Jeffrey Jones, Berni Wrightson, Michael Kaluta and Frank Brunner.  In the 1970's each of these artists came into his own in the field of comic books.  This issue features an in-depth look at the art and careers of these artists.  Frank Brunner had a short but fantastic run of Dr. Strange tales in the 1970's (Marvel Premiere and Dr. Strange vol. 1).  This issue is available with two covers,: Swamp Thing (probably by Wrightson), and Dr. Strange (most likely by Brunner).

Witches - Stevie's Angels?!

"Witches" is a new Marvel magical series debuting in October.  Described by editor Lysa Hawkins and artist Mike Deodato as "like Charlie's Angels, with Doc Strange as Charlie and the three lesser-known female mages of the Marvel Universe: Satana, Jennifer Kale, and Topaz as the Angels".  The writer for the series will be Bronwyn Carlton.

Satana Hellstrom is Satan's daughter, Jennifer Kale is a sorceress and friend of Man-Thing, and Topaz is an empath and friend of Dr. Strange and former girlfriend to Jack Russell (Werewolf by Night).

Hawkins described Dr. Strange's role in the series as "very Charlie like", but he will have "on-panel" time. "Not every issue, but enough of a presence that we still remember he's around."

The Witches series will be preceded by a special "Way of the Witches" Megazine, with artwork by Deodato and Estaban Maroto, and reprints of tales featuring Satana, Jennifer Kale, and Topaz.
